Lucy McBath

Lucy McBath is a gun control activist and politician who has worked tirelessly to pass gun control legislation in the United States. She became a gun control advocate after her 17-year-old son

was shot and killed by a white man who objected to the volume of music playing in Davis’s car.

Since then, McBath has become a leading advocate for gun control and has worked to pass common-sense gun laws. She has served as the national spokesperson for the gun control advocacy organization Moms Demand Action and worked with Everytown for Gun Safety to push for universal background checks and other gun control measures.

In 2018, McBath ran for Congress in Georgia’s 6th Congressional District, where she campaigned on a platform of gun control and criminal justice reform. She won the election, becoming one of the first Democrats to win the seat in decades.

In Congress, McBath has continued to champion gun control legislation. She has sponsored bills to expand background checks, ban assault weapons, and prevent individuals convicted of domestic violence from purchasing firearms. She has also worked to increase funding for gun violence research and to close loopholes in existing gun laws.
