One side of the bag has Ida B. Wells (1862-1931). Born into slavery, Ida B. Wells devoted nearly 50 years of her life to fearlessly fighting for racial justice, civil rights, and women's suffrage.
The other side of the bag has Pauli Murray(1910-1985), civil rights lawyer and later an Episcopalian priest. In 1940, 15 years before Rosa Parks, Murray was jailed for refusing to move to the back of a bus in the Jim Crow South.
